Fat Day, 2.0

FAT!!!!!

It's been 2 months since my surgery and I've lost 40 pounds. It was MORE than 40 pounds for a bit, then I put some back on when I started working out. Yeah. Isn't THAT great? Begin working out and GAIN weight.

I had hoped to have 80 pounds gone by now.

Nope.

40 pounds.

And I've been stuck there for a couple of weeks.

So I had major surgery, changed how I eat forever, and I've lost a grand total of 40 pounds.

Screw that. Give me back my steak dinners and my donuts. 40 pounds isn't worth it. I could do 40 pounds WITHOUT surgery.

Fat fat fat fat fat. Was fat, am fat, will be fat.

You would think that with all the running around I do for faire, and working out 4-6 days a week, I would be dropping pounds like no tomorrow, but nope. Not me. I'm the freak of the bunch. Other people have this surgery and lose 100 pounds in 3 months. Not me! I stay FAT!

FFFFAAAATTTT!!!!!

This fat message has been brought to you by Fat Forever, Inc. "Diets and surgery are wasted efforts! Just give in and realize that you'll be Fat Forever!!!"

Hey! Are you letting yourself fall into old patterns that you were letting go? Patience is the key. Stay on "the program"...we're really cheering you on and excited about your future. Look to the positive. You're talented, creative, intelligent, a perfectionist about some things and a wonderful, caring daughter. We miss you. You are loved in so many ways and by so many people!!! Now, back to work on your personal objectives...we love you!

I completely understand this feeling. Do yourself a favor....the next time you're at the gym pick up a 40lb weight and just hold it for a minute or two. I know you've probably heard this advice before, but really think about it as you put that weight back down. What an accomplishment!! Pat yourself on the back a little and focus on the next two months -- you will be amazed!! You're in my thoughts!

Hi Lys!

I don't know if you remember me from eDiets (I was KCLAnderson) and I played around at losing weight there for a while, then quit in a huff, because I didn't really want to lose weight. Anyway, I am back at eDiets and I have lost 15 pounds since 1/3/05. That is quite an accomplishment for me, and I vowed to myself that losing 1 pound a week would be great. At that rate It will take me a year to lose what I want to lose. And I am usually the type who wants the magic pill...

I know that WLS is supposed to speed up the weight loss and 40 pounds in two months is AMAZING. I don't care what others have lost, you have done SO WELL!

Hang in there and remember that there are people who think about you and are cheering you on. People like me, with whom you may have only come into contact with online for a brief time, but who remember you and think highly of you. You can do this. You want to do this and I know you can.

Hey Lys, not sure if you remember me or not either -- I'm from E-Diets and remember your posts for their no-nonsense way they drove home the truth.

The truth is that you HAVE lost 40-lbs so far. Pick up the 40-lb weight at the gym, try on some old clothes you could barely fit into 40lbs ago, talk to your doctors if you think you are not losing fast enough. It seems a little soon to be on a plateau, but if you think you are then try shaking up the exercise a bit -> if you are riding a bike, then take a walk, if you are doing tapes, then go outside....... Change things around. And don't forget to drink your water !!!

You can still come around and join us on the OOT if you'd like, Kelly and Lisa might hit you over the head with a "clue-by-four". *s

Ok, so the "usual" for WLS is 100 lbs in 3 months. Look at what you've lost... you've averaged about 5 lbs a week. That's a heck of a lot of weight lost. And you've lost over 20 inches. You are not always going to stay fat.

Give it time, you'll get to where you want to be.

Lys? WTF??? What is wrong with you? Do I need to remind you that you are beautiful in every single way? (OMG...isn't that a Christina Aguilera song-yuck!) Look at what you have posted above? Would you tell any one else such awful things?

Only 40 pounds? What is this "only" crap? *shaking head* Lys Lys Lys...

Look, woman, It's just your lot in life to have this go slowly. The end result is still the same-you are losing weight. Maybe the powers that be are testing your determination. Who knows. But don't you give up-don't you dare. Pouting and whining are just not characteristics that I associate with you. So others lose 80-100 pounds the first three months? So what? You are Lys. You are one of a kind. You gotta stop making pointless comparisons to others. Forty pounds in two months is amazing. I know you want to hurry up, but it is just gonna take time. I know it's not what you wanna hear-hell, I'd like to be finished with this too. Give it time. Don't give up five minutes before the miracle. And remember-you've got alot of people rooting for you behind the scenes.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Come on Lys-crank up the tank and get moving. Don't let this beat you.

Much love and many hugs-
Kelly

Hi Lys! Another OOT butterfly popping in to say what's with the attitude!? We all know what a fighter you are. You've kicked my butt (and others) quite soundly because of talk like that. I know it's hard. I know that WLS is supposed to make you drop pounds like we pee water but sometimes it just doesn't happen. Where were you 2 months ago? FORTY POUNDS HEAVIER!!! You will not be fat forever. You will continue to lose the weight at your own pace and you will reach your goals. We've parked the tank, but I am sure Lisa remembers where we hid the keys, so if we need to make a trip... We love you and miss you at OOT. Take care and keep fighting the good fight!!

Yeah! What Kelly said! Everyone loses weight at a different pace. Your body needs to go at its own pace. You may have been able to lose 40lbs. by yourself but you sure wouldn't have done it in 3 months. WLS is not a miracle cure. You know that. Stop watching the scale so closely and continue to teach yourself good eating and exercise habits.
Take care.

Oops. make that TWO months! 40lbs in TWO months. What are you complaining about???

Posted by: nitesnacker at March 16, 2005 7:14 AM

(another ediets friend) Lys, my sister had the weight lose surgery December 29th and has lost about 50lbs. So it looks like you and her are right about the same. I don't think 100 lbs in 3 months is typical at all. I think the average is about 5lbs a week. Another friend had it done last March and she has lost 150 lbs which only averages out to about 3 lbs a week so look at it from a long haul perspective. With WLS the weight will come off just give it time. Your doing great and 40lbs is a lot in 2 months. Keep up the good work and don't get discouraged.

Hugs,
Dawn

Lys, I have read many posted of yours at OOT. Where is that sane, rational self?! I had WLS 9 weeks ago and I certainly haven't lost 100 pounds! I've only lost 45. You know everyone has their own process. Don't forget the "pouch rules for dummies" and I am sure things will continue to happen for you.

Posted by: Maria at March 17, 2005 9:37 AM

Hi Lys,

I think I started at ediets just before you left so you may or may not remember me.

I just wanted to pop in and encourage you to stay the course. You know that it takes everyone longer to lose weight than they think it will - surgery or not. It's a hard reality to deal with but that's life, aye!

Looking forward to reading a positive post from you soon!

Deb
