Poem of the Unborn Phoenix

The Poem of the Unborn Phoenix

Prophecies are ubiquitous in Gaming. Here is the Scoobies'. Our GM freely admits to stealing this from Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising series of young adult novels.

When the Scarab comes rising, seven shall turn it back;
Three from the circle, four from the track;
Fur, blood, iron; bronze, wind, stone;
Six will return, and one go alone.

A Dark Lord will fall to the Reluctant Guide
And will be reborn, on the Unending Path
The sea will beckon, but the Snakes turn them back
The One Who Speaks without Tongues will leave the One with Silver
And the Unborn Phoenix will rise amidst music

Iron left at the Door, bronze carried long;
Fur from the child, stone out of song;
Wind in the shadows, blood from the grave;
Six Signs of battle, and the Sword gone before.

When the Scarab comes rising, the Hand will claim a leader
The Judge will lose its way
And the Faceless Ones will emerge from slumber
And the Spy change from Black to White
And stone melts in time

The Reluctant Guide shall find the harp of gold
Played to wake the Sleepers, oldest of the old;
Power from the Prophet, lost beneath the sea;
All shall fight the Scarab, and a world that is free.

On the day of the dead, when the year too dies,
Must the youngest open the oldest Stone
Through the paths of stone, where no breeze breaks.
And power fly from the One that Rides the Lightening,
And the winds bend to the Webspinner,
And the Prophet shall have the harp of gold.

In the City of Towers, the Voice will stir
And the Howlers lead the children to death
The Finger shall find the Sword
And the One who has Died Twice shall find so succor.

By the pleasant lake the Sleepers lie,
On the Silken Road where the sparrows call;
Though grim from the Dread King shadows fall,
Yet singing from the One Who Speaks without Tongues
To break their sleep and bid them ride.

When the Scarab comes rising, the never land grows dark
And the Webspinner shall find the Lost Rod
And the Thunderwalker shall wrestle the Undying
And the Voice will be silenced

On the banks of the Timeless River,
The Healer will meet the Dreamer.
While in the City of Knowledge,
The path of the Thunderwalker
Will cement the stone’s pledge

When light from the never land shall return,
Two Sleepers shall ride, six Signs shall burn,
And where the midsummer tree grows tall
By the Sword of Vengence the Scarab shall fall.
