Highland Games, 2005

It's that time of year, again. Time to start training for the Highland Games.

Last year I started competing on the Highland Games "circuit," though I only participated in two events: Scarborough Faire Highland Fling and the Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games. Both events are local to me.

This year, I've gone out to the North American Scottish Games Association website and pulled up a list of 11 events I want to participate in this year.

USCO Scottish Heritage Festival (Edmond, OK): 3/19 - 3/20 Unfortunately, this event is not being held in 2005.
Scarborough Faire Highland Fling Weekend (Waxahachie): 04/23 - 04/24 (Conflicts with a Scarborough Faire Performance Weekend).
Texas Scottish Festival (Arlington): 6/3 - 6/5
North Alabama Scottish Festival (Huntsville, AL): 06/18
Lugnassadh Celtic Harvest Festival (Houston): 08/28
Oklahoma Scottish Games & Gathering (Tulsa, OK): 09/17 - 09/18
Bedford Celtic Heritage Festival (Bedford): 10/08 - 10/09
Border Games & Gathering (Fort Smigh, AR): 10/15
ClearLake Celtic Festival (Houston): 10/29
Austin Celtic Festival (Austin): 11/06
Huntsville-Trinity Highland Games (Huntsville, Tx): 11/25 - 11/26

Additionally, my trainer recommended a couple additional events to me - one in Louisiana, one in Mississippi and one in Kansas City (Okay, so that's more than a couple). We'll see how the year goes as to whether or not I compete in those events as well.
