Getting it Together
So I e-mailed the Bariatric Surgery Center of Dallas this weekend. We'll see if I get a response from them when I get home. I gave them most of the pertinent info so that they could determine up front if they felt I might be a viable candidate for surgery. The ball is rolling, albeit slowly, and hopefully it will only pick up the pace rather than slow down. Then we'll see what there is to be seen.
In order to assist the process as much as possible, I have decided to begin putting my food intake into fitday.com again.I could just do a spreadsheet, but I like how Fitday figures out percentages of fat, carbs and protein for you, and a lot of foods are already in there, so it won't take a lot of extra time. Plus I can access it from home and from work. That means I can put stuff in as soon as I've eaten it rather than trying to remember everything at the end of the day, or rather than writing it down and then transcribing it into the system later.
I just hope that they don't make me go to a nutritionist for six months before they'll do this. That will eat away at my PTO, and it will mean that I won't have the surgery before July. I'd really like to do it in June, preferably early June.
I think I gained weight over the holidays. I went into rebellion mode for a time and said "Screw the world, I'll eat what I want." but I've gotten over most of that and starting this weekend I could feel myself beginning to want to go back to better choices. I cleaned out the fridge this weekend, and got some of the junk out of there. Just one cupboard left to get the junk out of and the house will be fairly healthy again. I made Shado buy snack-size chip bags for lunches, and had him take them to work to keep in his desk rather than at home. And he obligingly bought Pecan Sandies for his cookies, which works out well because I can't stand them, so won't be tempted to eat any...much less half a bag at a time. We wiped out the last of the cheesecake sampler with Starr and Jertzie when they came over for dinner Saturday, so that's gone too. There's still some gingerbread men left, and those are definitely a weakness but once they're gone, they're gone and there won't be any more of them til next Christmas, and even that will depend on my grandmother talking my aunt into baking a batch so that she can send them to us. At least this year it was just the gingerbread, and not the huge cookie tray that she usually sends. Though I did miss my annual batch of cherry drop cookies. Christmas is the only time I get those, too.
But now the candy jar on the desk is almost empty, the chocolate is out of the house (except what I use to make my stuff, and that's different, I don't tend to get into that unless I'm totally desperate). I actually craved salad this weekend! Go me! ;)
So hopefully I can get back into a better way of eating, get moving for faire, and get surgery scheduled. Phew. Lots to do. But...at least it's begun.
